1 Timothy 2:1-3 says, “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;”
It’s not our responsibility to agree or even like the people that run our country. As a Christian, that live and act like Christ representatives of His love, we are to pray for them and support them.
When we were growing up, our parents made decisions that we didn’t like and some of their decisions can be considered wrong. However, that does not change the fact that they were still our parents and we loved and respected them for that, even when we didn’t like or agree with them.
The same principles applied when it comes to respecting the leaders of this country. They will always have more pressure and responsibility that we do, so let’s not spend of time and effort as children of God, using our words to hurt but ask God to give the the wisdom and love for the people of this country to make the right decisions.
Romans 13:1-2 says, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.”
Let’s pray for our current president Obama during his term and any other president that God allows to be elected to the office of president.
